Slow.MK6.5. I know there are a few hybrid turbos for the 1.4 that have to come from Europe. The two I can find is RTMG and GotTuned. They are only 3-5 mm larger then OEM but the bearings can withstand spinning faster. I had the RTMG turbo for a while but I wasn't able to get the wastgate actuator to work properly.

TSI is just a generic term used by VW and Audi to denote that an engine is "boosted" and has direct injection. Beyond that, there are numerous different motors that fall under this moniker. 1.4 TSI TWINcharged 1.4 TSI Turbo-only 1.8 TSI Turbo 2.0 TSI Turbo (later version of 2.0 FSI) 3.0 TSI Supercharged (Audi S4) etc.
The 1.4t's economy is rated ~5-10% better than the 1.8t. I had a 2016 Jetta 1.4T manual that I used to drive back and forth from South Carolina to Pennsylvania to visit family several times a year. During those highway trips, depending upon the type of gas used and the outside temperature, I got anywhere from 43-47mpg.
